YURI VAN DER HEIJDEN
Dr. Yuri van der Heijden (MD, MPH) is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, USA and Senior Researcher at The Aurum Institute in Johannesburg, South Africa. He has a long-standing interest in global health. His primary research objective is to optimize the care of patients with tuberculosis, with a focus on multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. He is currently collaborating with several investigators in different areas of South Africa to study the clinical and molecular epidemiology of drug-resistant tuberculosis, limitations and opportunities for improvement in programmatic tuberculosis data, and the influence of co-morbidities on tuberculosis outcomes.
