Valeria Rolla, MD, PhD, earned a bachelor’s degree in medicine from Gama Filho University (1983) and a doctorate in Parasitary Biology from Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (1999). She is an Infectious disease specialist working and caring for HIV+ patients since 1986. Due to the importance of TB for the morbidity and mortality of these patients, hae has been trying to contribute to better understanding of TB-HIV interactions. She has been working in the REDE-TB as the coordinator of TB-HIV area and as a consultant for the Brazilian HIV/AIDS department and for tuberculosis program for TB-HIV coinfection.
